Tariff data updates
This page lists every version of the data the calculator uses, newest first. The current version is 2026.10.2, and the schedule lines were last checked against the official texts on 18 October 2026.
How updates happen
A scheduled job checks all sources once a week, on Sunday at 00:00 Berlin time. It downloads the agreement's tariff schedules from Siscomex and compares them with the copy we hold, checks the official links on EUR-Lex, reads the current EU and Mercosur nomenclatures, and fetches the applied duty rates and EU quota balances.
If nothing changed, nothing is published. If something did, the data version goes up (the format is year.month.number), every line is checked again, all tests and the site build run on the new data, and the change goes up for review. It's only published after that review. Uruguay and Paraguay are the exception: their tariffs are refreshed by hand, and the job flags them once a snapshot is more than 180 days old.
2026.10.2
Published 18 October 2026.
Savings are now measured against the duty each country applies today instead of the base rate printed in the schedule. The applied rates come from TARIC for the EU, from Brazil's trade ministry for the Mercosur common external tariff and Brazil, and from ARCA for Argentina. Uruguay and Paraguay use manual snapshots. The preferential rate now follows Article 2.4(7) of the agreement, so where today's applied rate is lower than the base rate, the cut is calculated from the applied rate.
For the EU's first-come, first-served quotas, the calculator now shows the remaining balance from TARIC and flags quotas that are used up. Licence-managed quotas, such as the beef quotas, are labelled as such. For imports into Mercosur, the rates of all four members and the common external tariff are shown side by side.
2026.10.1
Published 18 October 2026.
Added a snapshot of the current EU Combined Nomenclature and the Mercosur NCM in force. The schedules were negotiated on CN 2013 and NCM 2012, and the calculator now warns when a schedule code no longer exists, or when a code that's valid today has no line in the schedule. At this point 8,305 of the 9,376 EU lines (88.6%) and 9,189 of the 10,029 Mercosur codes (91.6%) still existed unchanged. This version also introduced the weekly automated check.
2026.10.0
Published 18 October 2026.
The calculator moved to the full line-by-line schedules: every 8-digit line of the EU schedule (9,376 lines) and the Mercosur schedule (10,029 lines), each checked against the official PDFs. Before this, the calculator used a simplified table with one rate per 4-digit heading, the highest rate in it. That left out the quotas, the specific duties and the car schedules.
With this version the calculator also started to model the Annex 2-A chronogram with its rounding rule and year 0 starting on 1 May 2026, the EU and Mercosur tariff-rate quotas, specific duties (when you enter a quantity) and the special schedules for cars.
The methodology page explains how the data is used.
